How to use it

  1. Pick a mode: count the working days between two dates, or add/subtract a number of working days to a date.
  2. Choose which days are your weekend. Paste your holidays as one date per line (2026-12-25 Christmas Day); lines that are not dates are listed so you can fix them.
  3. Read the headline number and the breakdown: calendar days, weekend days, holidays that fell on working days, working days.
  4. Copy the summary or the link. The link carries dates and options; the holiday list stays in your browser.

Example

From Thursday 1 January 2026 to Saturday 31 January 2026 (end date included) there are 31 calendar days, 9 weekend days (five Saturdays, four Sundays) and therefore 22 working days. Add 2026-01-01 to the holiday list and the result drops to 21 working days with 1 holiday.

In the other mode: 10 working days after Monday 2 March 2026 is Monday 16 March 2026– 14 calendar days elapse because two weekends (4 days) are skipped.

How working days are counted

The tool walks the range one calendar day at a time and classifies each day in this order: weekend day (by the chosen schedule), then holiday (if its ISO date is in your list), otherwise working day. A holiday that lands on a weekend is therefore reported once, as a weekend day, and never reduces the working-day count twice.

working days = calendar days − weekend days − holidays on working days

Adding or subtracting moves day by day in the chosen direction and stops after the requested number of working days has been passed; the day you start from is never one of them. This is the convention used for “N business days from” deadlines in contracts and shipping estimates (sometimes written as “T+N”). If your start date is itself a weekend or holiday, counting simply begins with the next working day.

Dates are handled as local calendar dates, so daylight-saving transitions cannot add or lose a day. Ranges are limited to about 100 years (36,600 days) so the day-by-day walk stays instant.

Why there is no built-in holiday calendar

Public holidays depend on country, region, year and sometimes employer; many are moved to the nearest weekday or substituted by a bridging day announced only months ahead. A built-in table is wrong for most visitors in most years, so the calculator asks for the authoritative list instead – government sites publish it for every year. Holidays are stored in your browser’s localStorage and are not part of the shareable link.

Working days in a year

With a Saturday–Sunday weekend and no holidays, a 365-day year has 261 working days when it starts on a weekday that leaves its single extra day on a weekday (as 2026 does, starting on a Thursday), and a leap year such as 2024 has 262. Every national holiday that falls on a weekday removes one more.

Questions

Does the count include the start and end dates?
The start date is always included. The end date is included by default; untick “Include the end date” to count only the days before it – useful for “how many working days until” questions.
How do I handle a Friday–Saturday weekend?
Choose “Friday & Saturday” under Weekend days. Several countries in the Middle East and North Africa use this schedule; “Sunday only” covers six-day working weeks.
What if a holiday falls on a Saturday?
It is counted as a weekend day, not as a holiday, so it does not reduce the working-day count. If your country moves such holidays to the Monday, add the Monday date to the list instead.
Are my holidays shared with the link?
No. The link carries the dates, mode and weekend setting; the holiday list is kept only in your browser so you do not have to paste it again next time.
