How to use it
- Copy the answer from the chat (most assistants have a “Copy” button that gives you Markdown) and paste it into the editor, or drop a .md/.txt file.
- Check the Preview tab: it shows how the Markdown is understood (headings, tables, lists).
- Optionally add a document title and choose paper size, margins, font and body size.
- Press “Convert to Word” and download the .docx. Open it in Word, LibreOffice, Pages or Google Docs and keep editing.
Example
The sample document (“Load sample”) has a title, two heading levels, a numbered list with nested bullets, a three-column table with right-aligned numbers, a quote, a bash code block, two task-list items, one inline formula and a link. The result is a 3-heading, 1-table, 2-list .docx of about 10 KB; the formula $g = (v_1 - v_0) / v_0$ appears in Consolas as text, and the notice under the download says one formula was kept as text.
What is converted, and the limits
The parser is markdown-it with raw HTML disabled, GitHub-style tables and strikethrough, and automatic linking of bare URLs. Each block token is mapped to a Word element: paragraphs, Heading 1–6, bullet and numbered lists up to four levels deep (each top-level list restarts its numbering), tables (header row shaded, column alignment from the :---: markers), fenced and indented code blocks (one shaded paragraph per line), block quotes (indented italics) and horizontal rules (a bottom border). Body text uses the font and size you pick; headings scale from it.
Not converted: images (there is no file to embed – a marker with the alt text is inserted and the count is shown), footnotes, definition lists and HTML tags (written as text). LaTeX between $…$ or $$…$$ is detected and kept verbatim in a monospace run; it is not turned into an editable Word equation, because a reliable LaTeX-to-OMML conversion is beyond this tool. Inputs are limited to 2 MB of text. Links are only made clickable for http, https and mailto addresses.
Questions
- Why does my pasted chat answer lose its formatting elsewhere but work here?
- Chat interfaces render Markdown. When you copy the rendered text you often get plain text; use the assistant's "Copy" button (or "Copy as Markdown") to get the source with #, **, - and | characters, which this tool understands.
- Will the headings show up in Word's navigation pane?
- Yes. They are written with the built-in Heading 1–6 styles rather than as big bold text, so the navigation pane, outline view and a generated table of contents all work.
- Can I get editable equations?
- No. LaTeX is kept as text in a monospace font and the tool tells you how many formulas it found. In Word you can select the text and use Insert → Equation → "LaTeX" input mode to convert it.
- Which fonts can I choose?
- Calibri, Arial or Times New Roman for the body and headings; code uses Consolas. If a font is missing on the machine that opens the file, Word substitutes a similar one – the structure is unaffected.
