2. When does summer begin?
In the northern hemisphere (for example in the US and UK) summer begins June 1 and the summer months are June, July and August, while in the southern hemisphere (for example in New Zealand and Australia) summer conventionally begins on December 1 and ends on the next year February 28 (if it’s a leap year, than summer ends on February 29).
3. What is Astronomical Summer and When Does It Begin?
From an astronomical view, the equinoxes and solstices would be the middle of the respective seasons, but sometimes astronomical summer is defined as starting at the solstice, the time of maximal insolation, often identified with the 21st day of June to 23rd day of September in the northern hemisphere, and from December 21 to March 20 in the southern hemisphere.
